Poke Salad Festival Announces Theme for 2015

"Live and Love with our Poke Salad Festival"

The Blanchard Poke Salad Festival is incorporating past and present fun activities for all. Come enjoy live entertainment, carnival, and numerous activities for kids to name a few.

Contests

There are many ways for you to participate and possibly win cash prizes at the Poke Salad Festival in 2015.

The Poke Salad Festival Treasure Hunt starts on Monday May 4th with clues being announced daily in the newspaper, on the radio, and by 8:00 A.M. here on the Treasure Hunt page.

The $1,000.00 prize is sponsored by long-time Poke Salad Festival supporter Doug's Paint and Body Shop.

Children's Estimation/Guessing Game

There will be an Estimation/Guessing game just for children, starting at 11:00am at the pavilion and ending at 1:00pm. Children guess how many in the jar for a chance to win a great prize. Winners announced at Main Pavilion Stage at ~1:00pm. Must be present to win. Good Luck to all participants!

Parades

As you may already know, one of the highlights of the Poke Salad Festival is the Parade, hosted by Blanchard's own "Lovable" Larry Ryan, which travels through downtown Blanchard on Saturday May 9th, starting at 10:00 AM in front of Blanchard Elementary School. This year our Grand Marshal is Mayor Johnny "Bubba" Digilormo. We always have great participation and creative ideas in our Parade Float Contest, sponsored by Doug's Paint and Body Shop.

Best in Parade receives $250.00 cash, and a trophy.

There will also be 1st and 2nd place trophies given in the following categories.

Best Marching/Twirling / Cheer

Other/Parade participant

All groups, teams, or businesses are invited to participate in the parade float contest with no charge to join the fun. Car clubs and any other group or individual wishing to be in the parade should please text Jessica West at 318-422-9867 or call 318-422-9112 or 318-422-9867 to register your parade entry. Carnival

Also, the Carnival will feature armbands for all-you-can-ride rides on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this year. Don't forget to pre-purchase your carnival all-you-can-ride armband tickets at Doug's Paint and Body Shop, Blanchard Insurance, or Blanchard Town Hall for $15.00 in advance, or pay $18.00 on the day of for your armband. Tickets are available in stores now - watch for the carnival posters to go up.

4:30 – 6:30 PM – Red River Entertainment
Presented By: Doug’s Paint & Body (Karaoke)

6:30 – 8:30 PM – Tequilla Rose Band (Jimmy Bertron &) Come enjoy this Traditional Country, Up To Date Country and Southern Rock -N-Roll band. This great group has about 45 years of experience and mostly form the Blanchard area.

Saturday May 9,2015 - Main Pavilion Stage

Presented By: NEWWAVE COMMUNICATIONS

1:00 – Mason Dixon Band - Toe tapping traditional country! This group has many talented players from the Shreveport area.

3:00 – Brandy Roberts – Mr. Roberts is from Shreveport, LA he is a high energy performer offering a Jerry Lee Lewis type show. Brandy is personally endorsed by the Killer, himself Jerry Lee Lewis. He has performed on the Penny Gilley show in Branson, MO for the last few years. So slick your hair back and pull out the poodle skirts.

5:00 – Ole Whiskey Revival – With classic country roots and ability to play just about anything, these men from Shreveport and Blanchard LA. will keep you on the dance floor. Actually they’re youngsters.

7:00 – 9:00 – Moonshine Blur – Back up the trucks, drop the tailgates and don’t forget the ice chest. The new and upcoming four piece group with members from Shreveport, Bossier with Blanchard LA. roots will perform your favorite Modern / Rockin Country hits from the 90’s thru today.

9:00 – Till – Ryan Ross & The Help – This mainly local group of Musicians will amaze you.

We will feature Karaoke hosted by River City Entertainment. So all you Blanchard crooners, get ready to sing your hearts out at the festival with over 6000 songs to choose from.
