"Peace, Love, & Pokesalad"

The Blanchard Poke Salad Festival is incorporating past and present fun activities for all. Come enjoy live entertainment, carnival, numerous activities for kids, and the "greased pole contest" to name a few.

Contests

There are many ways for you to participate and possibly win cash prizes at the Poke Salad Festival in 2012.

We are inviting all businesses in the Blanchard area to participate in the Store Front Decorating Contest during the week of May 7th through May 12th by decorating for the good time to be had by all.
First place - $75.00 Office Depot gift card

Second place - $25.00 gift card.

The Store Front Decorating Contest is sponsored by Ark-La-Tex Superior Signs.

The Poke Salad Festival Treasure Hunt starts on Monday May 7th with clues being announced daily in the newspaper, on the radio, and by 8:00 A.M. here on the Treasure Hunt page.
The $1,500.00 prize is sponsored by long-time Poke Salad Festival supporters Tim's Paint and Collision, Nichols Supply, and Steve Gross Homes.

Childrens' Treasure Hunt

There will be a treasure hunt just for children, eight years old and under, every half hour starting at 11:30am on the grounds and ending at 5:00pm. Children can search for the loot by asking any Poke Salad Festival committee member, dressed in PSF event staff shirt if they have the treasure! Only one win per child, please.

Parades
As you may already know, one of the highlights of the Poke Salad Festival is the Parade through downtown Blanchard on Saturday May 12th, starting at 10:00 AM in front of Blanchard Elementary School. This year our Grand Marshal will be Mr. Pat Allen. We always have great participation and creative ideas in our Parade Float Contest, sponsored by Doug's Paint and Body Shop.

Best in Parade receives $250.00 cash, and a trophy.

There will also be 1st and 2nd place trophies given in the following catagories.

Best in float
Best Marching/Twirling / Cheer

Other/Parade participant

All groups, teams, or businesses are invited to participate in the parade float contest with no charge to join the fun. Car clubs and any other group or individual wishing to be in the parade should please contact Sandra West at 929-2639 or 422-9112 to register your parade entry. Pokey Pet Parade contest for area pet owners . Thank you to our sponsor Brookings Animal Hospital. Prizes will be awarded for Cutest - Just makes you go awwww weee; Owner look alike - dress up as a pair!; and Best Costume. Carnival

Also, the Carnival will feature armbands for all-you-can-ride rides on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this year. Don't forget to pre-purchase your carnival all-you-can-ride armband tickets at Cliff's Country Corner, Pizza King, Blanchard Insurance, & Blanchard Town Hall for $15.00 in advance, or pay $18.00 on the day of for your armband. Tickets will be in stores soon - watch for the carnival posters to go up.

Poke Salad T-shirts

The much anticipated 2012 Poke Salad Festival t-shirts are here and can be purchased at Cliff's Country Corner, Blanchard Insurance, Pizza King, and Blanchard Town Hall. Cost is $12 for adult sizes, $10 youth sizes. These shirts look great with art work by a 1st grader. Get yours while supplies last!!!

To wrap up the festivities we plan to have a tailgate party at the Pavilion featuring

4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. - “Old Grass Country Band” – 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s country

5:45 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. - Louisiana Bayou Band – Country and Southern Rock

8:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Dixie Tradition - Acoustic set

9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. - Magnolia Brown - headlining the show - country, rock, southern rock, variety

Doug's Paint and Body Shop stage

12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We will feature Karaoke hosted by River City Entertainment. So all you Blanchard crooners, get ready to sing your hearts out at the festival with over 6000 songs to choose from.
